The Children of Lir Dark Blue Drop Earrings combine blue green glass, black and ivory enamel tones in a round drop design. The earrings hang with balance and restraint on the ear, creating a composed and elegant presence.
The collection takes its name from the story of the Children of Lir, a well-known tale from Irish mythology. According to the legend, the children were placed under a spell and transformed into swans, destined to live on Lough Derravaragh for three hundred years. We craft our jewellery and live close to the shores of Lough Derravaragh, where migrating swans return each year to breed. These surroundings form part of the landscape in which our work is made and observed.
This design has a companion piece, the Derravaragh Bluebell Drop Earrings, which shares the same tonal and material language.
All Meab Enamels jewellery is open fired in our workshop in Multyfarnham, set within the green Irish countryside. Open firing is a rare enamelling process that allows each piece to develop its own character. The method involves intense heat and careful control, producing enamel surfaces that can never be fully standardised. Each piece remains individual to its wearer, while staying true to the intended colour palette.
This form of enamelling is particularly demanding and is best suited to colder working conditions. It shapes not only how we make our jewellery, but also the rhythm of our year, allowing time in the summer months to travel and seek inspiration. Ireland remains at the root of this work and is reflected across our collections.
The Dark Blue Drop Earrings are lightweight and easy to wear, offering a comfortable balance for everyday use.
Please note that each Meab Enamels design is open fired. While colours will remain consistent with the piece shown, each enamel surface will have its own subtle variations. All earrings are finished with the highest quality hypoallergenic wires, suitable for sensitive ears.
